Glasgow: India is set to make a vibrant cultural statement at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2026, with Rashmika Mandanna and Shankar Mahadevan headlining the country’s showcase segment on August 2.

The performance will coincide with a key ceremonial moment — the formal handover of the Commonwealth Games flag to India, marking its role as host of the 2030 centenary edition in Ahmedabad.

A 20-minute cultural spectacle

India’s segment, expected to run for about 20 minutes, will highlight the country’s rich cultural diversity through a blend of:

  • Traditional and contemporary dance
  • Visual storytelling rooted in Indian heritage

The showcase is designed as a curtain-raiser for the 2030 Games, offering a global audience a glimpse into India’s cultural identity and organisational vision.

PM Modi likely to attend

India last hosted the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010, making Ahmedabad 2030 the country’s second time staging the multi-sport event.
