Royal Challengers Bengaluru are set to script a major Indian Premier League milestone as they become the first franchise to play 100 IPL matches at their home venue when they face Delhi Capitals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The historic moment comes 19 years after the IPL began at the same venue in 2008, when Kolkata Knight Riders opener Brendon McCullum smashed an unforgettable 158 runs in the tournament’s opening match.
Chinnaswamy has seen unforgettable moments
RCB’s lowest total at the stadium remains 82, recorded in that opening IPL match. However, the venue also witnessed one of the greatest batting displays in T20 history when Chris Gayle hammered 175 not out in 2013, helping RCB post 263 runs.
That innings included the fastest IPL century at the time, reached in just 30 balls.
Over 99 matches at Chinnaswamy, RCB have won 48 games and lost 46, with one tie, making it one of the league’s most iconic home grounds.
Home of cricketing superstars
The Bengaluru venue has thrilled fans with match-winning performances from legends such as Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle and MS Dhoni.
RCB currently sit second on the IPL points table with four wins in five matches this season.
Green jersey returns
For the landmark match, RCB will wear their special green jersey under the franchise’s sustainability campaign. Made from recycled materials, the jersey reflects the club’s environmental commitment.
RCB has long promoted itself as one of world cricket’s leading eco-conscious franchises
