Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s players and support staff will not return to Bengaluru immediately after winning their second consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) title, opting instead to head home or begin planned holidays following a demanding season.

The announcement was made by Mo Bobat, RCB’s Director of Cricket, shortly after the team’s emphatic victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final.

Players heading home after title win

Bobat said members of the squad and coaching staff had individual travel plans after the conclusion of the tournament.

While some players will spend time with their families, members of the support staff are expected to leave India for pre-planned breaks. As a result, fans may have to wait before celebrating the title with the team in Bengaluru.

Despite the delayed celebrations, Bobat acknowledged the passion and support of RCB fans, describing their enthusiasm as something the franchise always values.

Data-driven approach behind success

Beyond the title celebrations, RCB officials highlighted the role of analytics and evidence-based decision-making in the team’s recent success.

Since ending their long wait for an IPL trophy in 2025, RCB have transformed into one of the league’s most consistent teams, becoming only the third franchise in IPL history to win back-to-back titles.

Bobat credited a balanced approach that combines statistical analysis, expert opinion and player feedback. He also praised lead analyst Freddie Wilde for his contributions to squad planning, match preparation and player development.

Patidar credits analyst for batting improvement

Captain Rajat Patidar revealed that Wilde played a significant role in helping him improve his performance against spin bowling.

Patidar said he frequently sought video analysis and technical insights to better read deliveries from leading spinners, helping him refine his game and expand his scoring options.

The captain enjoyed a standout IPL 2026 season, leading the franchise successfully while producing some of the tournament’s most impactful batting performances.

With two consecutive IPL titles now secured, RCB’s focus will soon shift towards maintaining their dominance and building on one of the most successful periods in the franchise’s history. #RCB #IPL2026 #RajatPatidar #Cricket #RoyalChallengersBengaluru #newskarnataka
