Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL) has entered the sports drink market in India by partnering with former Sri Lankan cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan. Together, they will co-create, manufacture, and sell a new sports drink brand called Spinner.

Priced at Rs 10 for a 150 ml bottle, Spinner is set to be much more affordable than existing brands like Gatorade and Powerade, which are sold by PepsiCo and Coca-Cola. This pricing strategy, roughly half the cost of its competitors, is aimed at capturing a large share of the price-sensitive Indian market.

This new initiative signifies RCPL’s drive to expand its footprint in the Indian beverage sector, offering an alternative to well-established global brands with a local touch, supported by Muralitharan’s endorsement.
