Bengaluru: Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled marked World Environment Day with symbolic tree planting and a community clean-up initiative.

Volunteers and community members joined hands to plant trees and remove waste from the surroundings, demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability.

Dr Mahantesh G Kivadasannavar, Founder, Samarthanam Trust, emphasized the importance of community involvement in environmental sustainability, stating, “Today’s events highlight our collective responsibility for the environment. By working together, we not only cleaned up our surroundings but also paved the way for a greener future.”

He was also quoted saying “Samarthanam na nade paarisarada kadega” which translates to “Samarthanam walks towards environment.” This quote highlights the organization’s commitment to environmental conservation and its efforts to create a greener future.

Following the clean-up drive, Dr Mahantesh planted five fruit saplings to symbolize Samarthanam’s commitment to environmental protection and biodiversity.

The event culminated in a 1.5-hour stage program at HSR Layout, honouring the community’s environmental achievements and collaborative efforts.

Additionally, 10 BBMP pourakarmikas were felicitated for their dedication to nature and society.
