The Ministry of Sports added four athletes to prestigious awards after addressing grievances. Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and world chess champion D Gukesh were added to the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna list. Additionally, world boxing champion Saweety Boora and swimmer Sajan Prakash, who had been excluded from the original Arjuna award nominations, were included after their concerns. Saweety had won a world title in 2023, while Prakash was the first Indian swimmer to meet Olympic qualification standards.
