Security Concerns: RCB Skips Practice Session, Media Briefing

Ahmedabad: The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will be playing a crucial Eliminator match against the Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat this evening. The Bengaluru team reportedly cancelled the press briefing and practice session due to security concerns.

According to Anandbazar Patrika, a police officer stated the  Bengal daily that the Bengaluru team did not want to take risk, as they consider India’s star batsman Virat Kohli a national treasure. 

The Gujarat ATS on Monday, arrested four men at the  Ahmedabad airport as they had suspicion about their involvement in terror activities and few media reported that they wanted to mar the IPL matches. 

According to some media reports, the ATS recovered arms, videos, and texts that pointed to some terror activities. While the Royals held their practice session as usual, RCB did not proceed with the same.

The Bengal daily quoting a police officer reported that Kohli learned about the arrests after arriving in Ahmedabad. He is a national treasure, and his security is our utmost priority. RCB said that they did not want to take a risk and they canceled the practice session. But Rajasthan Royals continued with their practice session, the official said.
