Sharjah, UAE: The United Loretto Friends are proud to present the Inter-Parish Mixed Open Ground Tournament, scheduled for December 1, 2024, at the DC Stadium in Batayeh, Sharjah. The tournament will feature both cricket and tug of war competitions, with mixed teams composed of men and women, and is open exclusively to teams from the parishes of the Mangalore and Udupi dioceses.
Tournament Overview:
- Date: December 1, 2024
- Time: 7:30 A.M.
- Venue: DC Stadium, Batayeh, Sharjah
- Events: Cricket (8 men + 3 women) & Tug of War (4 men + 3 women)
- Entry Fee: DHS 600 per team (covers both events)
- Eligibility: Teams from Mangalore and Udupi dioceses only, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tournament Format:
- Teams will be divided into four pools, with fixtures drawn separately for each pool.
- The top team from each pool will advance to the semifinals, and the tournament will follow a knockout format.
- Registration is mandatory, with team captains required to fill out a form, have it signed and stamped by their parish priest, and submit it by the deadline. No changes to the team roster will be allowed after registration.
Cricket Tournament Rules:
- Team Composition: 15 players in total (10 men, 5 women), with matches played as 11-a-side (8 men, 3 women).
- Match Format: 4 overs per innings, with at least 4 bowlers. The first over must be bowled by a female player, and the opening batting pair must include one male and one female player.
- Bowling Restrictions: Underarm bowling only, below the knee. No chucking or throwing is allowed.
- Fielding Restrictions: A minimum of 4 players must be inside the 30-yard circle.
- Special Rules: No free hits or LBW; byes and leg byes are allowed. Wide and no-ball penalties will be 2 runs in the first 3 overs and 1 run plus an extra ball in the final over.
- Tie-Breaker: Any tie will be resolved by a super over, with specific rules regarding batting pairs and bowling.
- Awards: Trophies for winners and runners-up, with additional prizes for Best Batsman, Best Bowler, and Best All-Rounder.
Tug of War Tournament Rules:
- Team Composition: 11 players in total (6 men, 5 women), with matches played as 7-a-side (4 men, 3 women).
- Match Rules: The winning team will be determined by the judge’s rope point crossing in favor of their line.
- Prohibitions: No spiked shoes or ground digging. Hand gloves are allowed.
- Awards: Trophies for winners and runners-up.
General Rules and Conduct:
- Alcohol is strictly prohibited within the stadium premises.
- Timings will be strictly followed, with any delay resulting in a walkover for the opponent.
- Teams must register their players on the CricHeroes app.
- All players must wear a uniform; shorts are not allowed.
- The umpire’s decision will be final, and any disputes must be addressed by team captains to the umpire or organizing committee.
- The organizers reserve the right to amend rules if necessary.
