Members of the Indian women’s cricket team, including Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana, along with head coach Amol Mazumdar, extended heartfelt wishes to the Men in Blue ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The encouraging messages were shared in a video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), where the Women in Blue rallied behind the men’s team as they aimed to defend their T20 World Cup title on home soil.

Words of encouragement from Women in Blue

In the video, coach Amol Mazumdar wished the team success and highlighted the electrifying atmosphere expected at the packed stadium.

“I would like to wish everyone all the very best. At the Narendra Modi Stadium, there will be a huge crowd and a fantastic ambience to play the World Cup final,” Mazumdar said.

Star all-rounder Deepti Sharma also sent her best wishes to the team.

“All the best Men in Blue for the World Cup finals. We all are supporting you. Go get it,” she said.

Meanwhile, batter Jemimah Rodrigues delivered a short but powerful message to the team, urging them to bring the trophy home.

“Let’s bring this home. We are rooting for you,” Rodrigues said.

India chasing historic milestone

The Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team entered the final with a chance to script history. A victory would make India the first nation to win the T20 World Cup three times and also the first to defend the title successfully.

India had earlier lifted the T20 World Cup in 2007 and 2024, and a win in Ahmedabad would mark another historic achievement for Indian cricket.

Dominant run to the final

India’s journey to the final showcased impressive performances throughout the tournament. The team defeated West Indies in a crucial Super 8 match before edging past England in a thrilling semi-final in Mumbai.

New Zealand, meanwhile, reached the final after finishing second in their Super 8 group and defeating South Africa in the semi-final in Kolkata.

The Kiwis were chasing their first ICC white-ball title since the 1998 Champions Trophy.

Indian cricket enjoying golden era

The strong support from the women’s team reflects the remarkable period Indian cricket is currently experiencing.

In recent years, India has celebrated several major achievements, including the 2024 T20 World Cup victory and the Women’s ODI World Cup triumph, highlighting the growing strength of cricket across both men’s and women’s teams.

With the entire nation backing them, the Men in Blue stepped onto the field in Ahmedabad determined to create another unforgettable chapter in India’s cricketing history.
