
South Western Railway to Run Special Trains for Onam
To manage the increased passenger demand for Onam, the South Western Railway (SWR) has announced the operation of several special trains. These trains will serve popular routes, helping travellers reach their destinations efficiently during the festive season.
Special Onam Train Services
Hubballi-Kochuveli Special
Train number 07333 will depart from Hubballi at 6:55 AM on September 13 and arrive at Kochuveli at 6:45 AM the following day. The return train, number 07334, will depart from Kochuveli at 12:50 PM on September 14 and reach Hubballi at 12:50 PM the next day.

Haveri, Ranebennur, Harihar, Davangere, Birur, Arsikere, Tumakuru, Chikkabanavar, SMVT Bengaluru, KR Puram, Bangarapet, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Kayankulam, and Kollam.
Tri-Weekly Superfast Express Special
Train number 06101, the Ernakulam-Yelahanka Tri-weekly Superfast Express Special, will operate on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until September 18. The return train, number 06102, the Yelahanka-Ernakulam Tri-weekly Superfast Express Special, will run on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays until September 19.
Bengaluru-Hosapete Express Special
For passengers travelling to and from Hosapete, the KSR Bengaluru-Hosapete Express Special, train number 06243, will continue to operate until September 14. The return service, train number 06244, will run until September 15.
Enhancing Security Amid Recent Train Derailment Attempts
In light of recent attempts to derail trains, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has confirmed that security will be increased, with the installation of cameras on select trains to monitor safety and prevent incidents.
These special services are expected to significantly alleviate the pressure on regular trains, ensuring smoother travel during the festive rush of Onam. Passengers are encouraged to book their tickets early to secure seats on these additional services.
