A software developer working at Amazon has sparked interest among aspiring tech professionals after sharing the strategy he claims helped him secure an international job offer worth approximately Rs 1.8 crore annually without leaving India.
Kartik Modi, who regularly shares career guidance and interview preparation tips on social media, detailed the step-by-step roadmap he followed to land a high-paying global role.
A focused plan instead of random preparation
According to Modi, his journey began with identifying 25 to 30 international companies that actively sponsored visas. Using platforms such as LinkedIn, Indeed and Levels.fyi, he shortlisted opportunities that matched his skills and career goals.
He then analysed around 40 job descriptions to identify common requirements and create a targeted preparation strategy. Rather than studying everything, he focused only on skills most frequently sought by employers.
Mastering technical interviews
Modi divided his preparation into a structured 10 to 12-week schedule. The initial weeks focused on data structures and algorithms, followed by system design, domain-specific learning and behavioural interview preparation.
He stressed that solving hundreds of coding problems was less important than understanding patterns, developing problem-solving skills and clearly explaining solutions during interviews.
System design, which he described as a “game changer”, involved studying large-scale architectures such as payment systems, authentication services, search engines and notification platforms.
Communication and preparation matter
Beyond technical knowledge, Modi documented real-world projects, highlighting challenges, performance improvements and engineering decisions. He also adapted his interview style to global hiring standards by focusing on structured communication and transparency.
Another key step was redesigning his resume into a concise one-page format that showcased measurable achievements and impact.
Mock interviews also played a crucial role. Modi completed several practice sessions to identify weaknesses before facing actual interview panels.
A lesson for aspiring professionals
His story has resonated with many professionals online, with users praising the disciplined and strategic approach. Many noted that international opportunities are increasingly accessible to skilled candidates who combine technical expertise with strong communication and focused preparation.
The key message from Modi’s experience is simple: global opportunities can be achieved from India with a clear plan, consistent effort and targeted preparation.
