Bengaluru: Bengaluru-based deep-tech company Dreamfly Innovations has announced plans to establish a new aviation battery manufacturing facility in North Bengaluru, marking a significant boost to India’s growing drone and aerospace ecosystem.

The company will invest ₹40 crore in the 40,000 sq. ft. facility, which is expected to become one of the country’s largest dedicated manufacturing units for drone batteries.

New plant to boost drone battery production

Backed by Avaana Capital, the facility will begin operations with an annual production capacity of 100 MWh, which can later be expanded to 200 MWh to meet growing demand.

The plant will manufacture advanced batteries for drones used in defence, surveillance, infrastructure inspection, agricultural spraying, logistics and emerging aerial mobility platforms such as air taxis.

Focus on indigenous technology

Dreamfly Innovations said its batteries currently have 77 per cent indigenous content, in line with the Centre’s Kisan Drone Policy. The company expects the new facility to significantly reduce India’s dependence on imported battery components while strengthening the domestic drone manufacturing ecosystem.

Kajal Shah, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dreamfly Innovations, said the investment would help develop world-class aviation batteries in India while supporting the government’s Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047 initiatives.

Supporting India’s drone ecosystem

Vikas Verma, Partner at Avaana Capital, said the new manufacturing facility would strengthen Dreamfly’s leadership in next-generation battery technology and accelerate India’s ambitions in aerial mobility.

According to the company, domestic production of advanced batteries will help Indian drone manufacturers build safer and more competitive products while positioning the country as a global hub for drones and future aviation technologies.

Dreamfly Innovations develops battery solutions for drones, aviation and aerospace applications using lithium-based chemistries, graphene and supercapacitor technologies.
