NVIDIA’s “Project DIGITS” brings supercomputer power to mini PCs

NVIDIA has unveiled Project DIGITS, a compact, high-powered mini PC capable of delivering supercomputer-level performance. Designed for AI developers, researchers, and data scientists, this device redefines portability and capability by allowing tasks traditionally run in massive data centers to be performed on your desk—or even on the go.

Key Features:

  • Processor & GPU: NVIDIA GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip with an integrated Grace processor and Blackwell GPU.
  • Memory & Storage: 128GB of memory and 4TB SSD storage.
  • Performance: 1 petaFLOPS of computing power—1,000 times more powerful than high-end laptops.
  • AI Applications: Supports running advanced generative AI models with up to 200 billion parameters. Two devices can combine to handle models with 405 billion parameters.

Expected to launch in May 2025 at an estimated $3,000, the device is set to transform AI research and applications. Though its design remains in development, its small footprint promises convenience without compromising power.

Impact:
Raquel Urtasun, founder of Waabi, highlighted its transformative potential in AI, robotics, and autonomous systems, stating that it enables faster experimentation and scaling of solutions.

By democratizing access to supercomputing power, Project DIGITS is poised to accelerate breakthroughs in AI and beyond.
