New Delhi: Smartphone maker Realme has officially confirmed the launch date of its upcoming Realme 16T 5G smartphone in India. The new handset will be unveiled on May 22 as the fourth model in the Realme 16 series lineup.

The upcoming device will join the existing Realme 16, Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro+ smartphones already available in the series.

Ahead of the official launch, the company has begun promotional activities through dedicated microsites on its official website and e-commerce platform listings, revealing several important specifications and design details.

Realme confirms three colour options

According to the company, the upcoming Realme 16T 5G will be available in three colour variants — Starlight Black, Starlight Red and a blue colour option.

The smartphone will be sold in India through Realme India and Flipkart following its launch.

On the design front, the device features a flat rear panel with a square-shaped camera module positioned on the top-left side. The module houses dual rear cameras, an LED flash unit and a selfie mirror.

The power button and volume controls are located on the right edge of the smartphone, while the left side has been kept clean for a minimalistic appearance.

The handset reportedly measures 8.8 mm in thickness, maintaining a relatively slim design despite featuring a massive battery.

Massive 8,000mAh battery highlighted

One of the biggest highlights of the Realme 16T 5G is its large 8,000mAh Titan Battery.

The company claims the battery can provide up to three days of usage on a single charge under normal conditions.

According to Realme, the battery is capable of delivering:

  • Up to 14.3 hours of gaming
  • Around 34 hours of social media usage
  • Nearly 21.9 hours of navigation usage

The company also stated that the battery has been designed for long-term durability and is expected to remain usable for up to seven years.

Fast charging and reverse charging support

The smartphone will support 45W wired fast charging technology.

Additionally, the device is expected to include bypass charging support, which allows the phone to draw power directly from the charger during gaming or heavy usage instead of stressing the battery.

Wired reverse charging support has also been confirmed, enabling users to use the smartphone as a power source for charging other compatible devices.

Industry observers note that battery-focused smartphones are increasingly gaining popularity among users looking for extended usage time without frequent charging.

Geekbench listing reveals processor details

Ahead of launch, the Realme 16T 5G has also appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform, revealing key hardware specifications.

The listing suggests the smartphone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset.

The octa-core processor reportedly includes:

  • Two performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz
  • Six efficiency cores running at 2GHz

Graphics duties are expected to be handled by the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.

The benchmark listing also indicates that the smartphone may launch with at least 8GB RAM.

Android 16 expected out of the box

The device is expected to run on Android 16 out of the box, making it among the early smartphones expected to ship with the latest Android operating system version.

While the company has revealed battery capacity and design elements, several important specifications are still awaited.

Details regarding the camera sensors, display specifications, storage variants and official India pricing are expected to be announced closer to launch.

Competition in mid-range segment intensifies

With the launch of the Realme 16T 5G, competition in India’s mid-range 5G smartphone segment is expected to intensify further.

Smartphone manufacturers are increasingly focusing on battery life, fast charging and AI-backed software features to attract buyers in the competitive market.

Industry analysts believe the combination of a large battery, 5G connectivity and expected aggressive pricing could help the Realme 16T 5G attract users looking for long battery endurance and budget-friendly performance.

The official launch event is scheduled for May 22, when the company is expected to reveal complete specifications, pricing and availability details for the Indian market.
