A mother grizzly and her two cubs had a heart-stopping encounter with a California jogger on a trail in Mount Wilson Park, Sierra Madre. The jogger, Laura Gold, posted a video of the dramatic occurrence to Instagram.
The video shows Gold trying to back off the trail as the mother grizzly and her cubs approach her cautiously. The runner can be heard roaring in the face of the approaching bears, probably an attempt to frighten and discourage them. As Gold deftly moves to put distance between herself and the bears, the stressful moments play out.
“In the midst of chaos, I almost forgot about nature’s lesson,” read the caption.
Despite the inherent danger of the situation, the jogger managed to escape unscathed. Reflecting on the incident, Gold shared her experience on Instagram, noting how the chaotic encounter momentarily made her forget about the lessons nature imparts.
