Certainly, Shilajit: A Fascinating Journey from Mountains to Medicine

Shilajit, the sticky substance found in rocks renowned for its myriad health benefits, has long intrigued health enthusiasts. A recent Instagram video shared by food blogger Amar Sirohi sheds light on the intricate process behind the creation of genuine Shilajit, unveiling its origins and the meticulous steps involved in its production.

The video takes viewers high into the mountains, where herbal plants undergo natural decomposition. Fearless gatherers embark on daring climbs to collect these remnants, which are then delicately extracted from rocks clinging to the mountainsides. These valuable rocks undergo an intensive boiling process that spans an entire day. The heat causes dirt and impurities to separate, rising to the water’s surface. Through careful straining, all impurities are removed, allowing Shilajit to naturally detach from the rocks and blend with the water.

Subsequently, the water-infused Shilajit undergoes another round of boiling, lasting 7-8 hours, enabling all the water to evaporate. The resulting product is pure Shilajit, ready to be meticulously packed. To prevent it from sticking to surfaces, the Shilajit is thoughtfully coated with oil before packaging.

Remarkably, this 100 percent authentic Shilajit, crafted through this laborious process, commands a hefty price tag of Rs 1,00,000 per kilogram, as mentioned in the video’s caption.

But what exactly is Shilajit? Primarily found in the Himalayas, Shilajit is a natural substance formed over centuries through the gradual decomposition of specific plants by microorganisms. This potent and safe dietary supplement restores energetic balance and has the potential to prevent various diseases. Recent research has highlighted its medical applications in controlling cognitive disorders associated with aging, including cognitive stimulation.

Fulvic acid, the main active principle in Shilajit, has shown promising results in blocking tau self-aggregation, suggesting potential therapy for Alzheimer’s, as indicated by the National Library of Medicine. Shilajit stands as a nutraceutical product with demonstrated benefits for human health. Its anticipated impact on the medical field, particularly in neurological sciences, calls for further research at both biological and clinical levels.
