A heated argument between two private bus conductors over a scheduling conflict escalated into a physical confrontation at the Thokkotu overbridge on September 4. The scuffle, which was captured on video, gained widespread attention and went viral on social media on Thursday, September 5.
The clash took place between staff members of Padma Travels, operating between Thalapady and Mangaluru, and PTC Travels. The conductors involved have been identified as Vishnu from Padma Travels and Ajay from PTC Travels.
The dispute began when one bus was parked in a way that blocked the other, sparking a quarrel. The situation quickly deteriorated as the conductors started hurling verbal insults, which soon led to a physical altercation.
Female passengers on the buses were left uneasy due to the brawl, and local auto-rickshaw drivers had to step in to break up the fight.
A case has been filed under CR No. 163/2024, US 194(2) BNS, and the matter is currently under investigation. Authorities have also indicated that preventive cases will be registered against both involved parties to prevent further incidents.
