Tumakur: Home Minister G. Parameshwara said former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa may be arrested if required, CID had summoned him for questioning in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case.
“Procedurally, notice has been served and the charge-sheet is due by June 15. The CID will record his statement and follow all necessary procedures before filing the charge-sheet,” Parameshwara informed reporters. When asked about the possibility of arrest, he stated, “If necessary, they will arrest. It’s up to the CID to decide.”
Currently in Delhi, Yediyurappa is expected to join the investigation upon his return, according to sources close to him. The case against him stems from allegations by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, who accused Yediyurappa of sexual assault during a meeting on February 2 at his residence in Dollars Colony.
The initial complaint, filed on March 14, led to the Karnataka Director General of Police, Alok Mohan, transferring the case to the CID for further investigation. The complainant, a 54-year-old woman, passed away from lung cancer last month.
