Three people, including a three-year-old girl, died after drinking contaminated water in Chinnenahalli village, Madhugiri taluk, on Wednesday.

The deceased are Chikkadasappa, 76, Peddanna, 74, who were treated at the district hospital, and Meenakshi, 3, who was admitted to a private hospital.

They were among the 98 villagers who fell ill on June 10 after consuming water from an overhead tank and a pure drinking water unit. Many people from nearby villages had attended a fair in Chinnenahalli on June 7. Chikkadasappa and Peddanna had been receiving treatment since June 10, while Meenakshi began showing symptoms on Wednesday morning.

She initially recovered but her condition worsened, leading to her death en route to the hospital. Currently, 59 others are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
