Kundapur: Gold jewellery and foreign currency worth around ₹95,000 were stolen from a house opposite Bobbaryankatte in Kundapur after burglars broke open the front door while the occupants were away.

The theft came to light on the morning of August 13 when Vijay Naveen Kumar returned home and found that the house had been burgled.

House burgled in owner’s absence

According to the complaint, Vijay had left his mother Sharada at his aunt’s house in Kota before travelling to Mumbai on August 8.

When he returned home on August 13, he noticed that the front door had been broken open. The burglars had reportedly used a weapon to break the latch and gain entry into the house.

The accused then searched the premises and opened a cupboard, from where they allegedly stole around 8 grams of gold jewellery and foreign currency.

The total value of the stolen valuables has been estimated at around ₹95,000.

Police inspect crime scene

Following information about the burglary, Kundapur Circle Inspector Jayaram Gowda, City Police Station PSI Pushpa and other police personnel visited the house.

The police conducted an inspection of the premises and initiated an investigation into the theft.
