Udupi: The Adhyapaka Bhushana Award 2026 presentation ceremony, organised by the Mangaluru Division of the Karnataka State College Teachers’ Association, will be held on September 26 at 2 pm at Madhava Krishna Hall, Hotel Kidiyoor, Udupi.

The awards will recognise teachers and education professionals from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu for their academic achievements and contributions to the education sector.

The programme is being organised in collaboration with Trisha Educational Institutions.

M Mohan Alva to receive Lifetime Achievement Award

Announcing the details at a press conference on Friday, Dr Madhava M K, State Joint Secretary of the Karnataka State College Teachers’ Association, said several educationists and teachers have been selected for different categories of the Adhyapaka Bhushana Awards.

Dr M Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation and a prominent figure associated with education and cultural activities in coastal Karnataka, has been selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award in Education.

The award recognises his contribution to the education sector over the years.

Education administrators selected for awards

Three education administrators have been selected for recognition in the Outstanding Administrator category.

They are:

  • C A Gopalakrishna Bhat, Founder of Trisha Group of Educational Institutions
  • Prof Ramesh Bhat S G, Administrative Director of Govinda Dasa College
  • Dr Padmanabha S, Principal of Government First Grade College, Belthangady

The organisers said the awards are intended to recognise administrators who have contributed to the functioning and development of educational institutions.

Researchers and teachers to be honoured

The Best Researcher award will be presented to Dr Bhoja Pujari, Chairman of the Chemistry Department at Mangalore University, and Prof Ajakkala Girish Bhatt, Principal of Siddhakatte Government First Grade College.

Three educators have been selected for the Best Teacher category. They are Dr Subbappa Kaikamba, Principal of Puttur Government First Grade College, Prakash Chandra Shishila of Bantwal Government First Grade College, and Dr Praveen K C, Principal of Besant Women’s College, Mangaluru.

The organisers said the selection recognises their academic contributions and service to students and their respective institutions.

Librarians and physical education teachers recognised

Two professionals have been selected for the Best Librarian award.

They are Dr Rajatha P Shetty, Librarian at SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire, and Dr Muthamma A R, Librarian at Kaveri College, Virajpet.

In the Best Physical Education Teacher category, the award will be presented to Dr Jayabharathi A, Physical Education Director at Manjunatha Pai Manju Memorial Government First Grade College, Karkala, and Prof Rocky Poovanna, Physical Education Director at Government Women’s First Grade College, Madikeri.

Dignitaries to present awards

The award ceremony is expected to be attended by several dignitaries from the education, public and social sectors.

The organisers said RSS Kshetriya Karyavaha N Thippeswamy, Union Minister V Somanna, Udupi Lok Sabha member Kota Srinivasa Poojary, Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof P L Dharma and Kodagu University Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Sangappa Aloor will present the awards.

KRMS President Dr Gurunath Badiger will also attend the programme.

The organisers said the ceremony will provide an opportunity to recognise educators from the three districts for their achievements and contributions to higher education.
