Karkala: A 39-year-old anganwadi teacher, Soumya, took her own life by jumping into a well near her residence at Kuntibail Manjadka in Miyar. The incident occurred as Soumya struggled to cope with the loss of her husband, who passed away a month ago.
Soumya, a dedicated teacher at an anganwadi near Chach 9 for the past 15 years, is survived by her two daughters. She had reportedly been distressed since her husband’s death, which deeply impacted her mental health.
Her body was retrieved and has been kept at the Karkala Taluk Public Government Hospital mortuary. The local community is mourning the loss of a committed educator and mother. Authorities are investigating the incident.
