Udupi: The Ascott Limited (Ascott), a business unit of CapitaLand Investment Limited, has announced the signing of Citadines Udupi, a 104-key serviced residence, marking its fourth property in Karnataka. The project highlights Ascott’s strategy to scale up in India’s fast-growing lodging sector.
Located between Mangalore (40 km) and Udupi (25 km), the property is set in a region known for its Blue Flag-certified beach, growing industrial ecosystem—including Suzlon Hi-Tech SEZ and Padubidri Industrial Park—and proximity to New Mangalore Port Trust. This positioning makes Udupi a rising hub for sustainable tourism and coastal development.
Citadines Udupi will cater to both business and leisure travellers, offering modern apartments with kitchenettes, fitness facilities, all-day dining, and amenities designed for flexible short- and long-term stays.
Hoshang Garivala, Country GM, The Ascott Limited, said:
“India is a priority market for Ascott’s growth in Asia, and Karnataka remains one of our strongest regions. With its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and industrial growth, Udupi presents a unique opportunity. Citadines Udupi reflects our commitment to bringing world-class hospitality experiences to India’s emerging destinations.”
Sudharman Shetty, Director, SKS Sunshine, added:
“We are proud to partner with Ascott for our first Citadines project in India. Udupi is our home, and this collaboration allows us to blend our hospitality legacy with Ascott’s global expertise.”
With this signing, Ascott expands its footprint in India to include metros like Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Goa, alongside emerging corridors such as Udupi. The portfolio complements existing operations like Oakwood Whitefield Bengaluru and upcoming projects in Electronic City.
