Udupi: Karkala MLA V. Sunil Kumar has strongly countered the Congress party’s accusations regarding the Parashurama Theme Park, asserting that the recently filed charge sheet exposes their “fabricated narratives.” He emphasized that the statue of Parashurama, alleged by Congress to be made of fiber, was in fact cast in brass, as confirmed by investigative reports.

The Karkala police submitted a 1231-page charge sheet to the court, which outlines the findings. MLA Sunil Kumar claimed this proves the Congress’s claims were baseless and politically motivated. He criticized the Siddaramaiah-led government for using the investigation as a tool to target the opposition across the state.

Calling the Parashurama Theme Park his dream initiative, he stated that it was envisioned to become a premier tourist spot in South India. Sunil Kumar expressed disappointment that Congress leaders not only spread falsehoods about the material of the statue but also accused him of promoting hatred. “Despite my call for an official probe, they dragged Karkala’s name through the mud,” he said.

Meanwhile, investigations confirmed that sculptor Krishna Nayak constructed the idol from brass instead of bronze, breaching contract terms. Officials Arun Kumar and Sachin Y. Kumar from Udupi Nirmiti Kendra were also found guilty of deceit, conspiracy, and evidence tampering.

Sunil Kumar has now demanded the government release pending project funds and allow the work’s completion. “Let the judiciary handle this. If the government won’t finish the park, we will—without begging,” he concluded.
