Udupi: The 10th mega Canara Retail Expo, organised by Canara Bank’s Manipal Circle Office and Regional Office-1 at the MGM College grounds in Udupi, concluded on Sunday evening, October 25, with a valedictory programme recognising the contributions of participating dealers.
The two-day expo, held on October 24 and 25, brought together customers, retailers, builders and bank representatives ahead of the festive season. The event generated customer enquiries, loan applications and property-related leads, with bookings made for several properties.
During the valedictory programme, participating dealers were presented with mementoes in appreciation of their support and cooperation in making the event successful.
The expo also highlighted Canara Bank’s growth, with the institution having crossed Rs 30 lakh crore in total business, strengthening its position among India’s leading banks.
Customer trust drives bank’s growth
Addressing the gathering, Mahamaya Prasad Roy, Regional Manager of Canara Bank’s Udupi-1 Regional Office, attributed the bank’s achievement to the dedicated efforts of its employees and the trust placed in it by customers.
“Without customers, our existence has no meaning. The strong relationship between customers and the bank is the key driving force behind our growth,” he said.
Roy emphasised that customer relationships remained central to the bank’s progress. He acknowledged the contribution of employees and the confidence customers had shown in the institution over the years.
He also spoke about Canara Bank’s journey from its modest beginnings to its present scale of more than Rs 30 lakh crore in total business.
The bank was founded by Ammembal Subba Rao Pai, who established the institution with an initial capital of approximately Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500. Roy expressed pride in the growth achieved since its establishment and said the bank continued to work towards its ambition of becoming the number one bank in the country.
Retail Expo marks 10th year
Launched in 2016, the Canara Retail Expo has entered its 10th year, emerging as an annual platform to connect customers with retailers, builders and the bank.
The expo is organised at the beginning of the festive season, when customers often explore opportunities to purchase homes, properties and other retail products through bank financing.
By bringing multiple stakeholders together at a common venue, the event provides prospective buyers with an opportunity to interact with dealers and builders while exploring available financing options from Canara Bank.
The 2026 edition continued this approach, with participation from dealers and property-related businesses helping customers explore purchase opportunities and understand the available loan facilities.
The annual event also provides a platform for the bank to strengthen relationships with its business partners and reach prospective customers.
Property enquiries and loan applications recorded
Roy said the bank received numerous customer enquiries, loan applications and leads related to property purchases during the two-day expo.
Bookings were also made for several properties, indicating customer interest in the offerings presented at the event.
The bank granted in-principle approvals for multiple loan applications. Roy clarified that official loan sanction letters would be issued after the completion of the necessary procedures.
In-principle approval allows applications to progress subject to the required checks and documentation, while final sanction depends on the fulfilment of the bank’s applicable conditions.
The enquiries and applications generated during the expo provided the bank with opportunities to engage with prospective borrowers and support customers considering property purchases.
The event also facilitated interactions among customers, builders and dealers, helping bring prospective buyers and service providers together under one roof.
Canarites and dealers appreciated
Roy appreciated the collective efforts of Canara Bank employees, popularly known as Canarites, in organising the expo and ensuring its smooth conduct.
He also acknowledged the cooperation extended by participating dealers, builders and their representatives, whose involvement contributed to the event’s success.
The valedictory programme recognised the support of the participating dealers through the presentation of mementoes.
Roy extended advance Deepavali greetings to customers and reiterated the bank’s commitment to serving them with dedication.
He said Canara Bank would continue to focus on customer service and maintain the relationships that have supported its growth over the years.
The programme was compered by Niranjan and Archana, who also proposed the vote of thanks.
With the conclusion of the 10th edition, the Canara Retail Expo has completed another year of bringing customers, property developers, retailers and banking services together in Udupi ahead of the festive season.
