According to the complaint filed, the owner of the vehicle, Ravikumar, had parked his car in front of his house on Wednesday night, as part of his usual routine. However, the situation took an unexpected turn the following morning when he discovered that the vehicle was missing from its parking spot.
Theft discovered in the morning
The theft came to light on Thursday morning when Ravikumar stepped out and found that the car was no longer where it had been parked. Initially suspecting that the vehicle might have been moved or towed, he conducted a search in the surrounding area.
Despite checking nearby streets and making enquiries with neighbours, the vehicle could not be traced. Realising that it had likely been stolen, he approached the police to lodge a formal complaint.
Police register case
Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the theft. Officials are expected to examine possible leads, including reviewing CCTV footage from the area, if available, and gathering information from local residents.
The estimated value of the stolen vehicle has been put at around Rs 3 lakh. Authorities are working to identify any suspects and track the movement of the vehicle following the theft.
Concerns over residential security
The incident has raised concerns among residents of Shreematha Layout and nearby areas regarding the safety of parked vehicles, particularly during night hours. Locals have expressed the need for increased vigilance and improved security measures, such as better street lighting and surveillance systems.
Vehicle thefts from residential areas, though not uncommon, often occur when cars are left unattended overnight without additional security arrangements. Police have advised residents to take precautionary measures, including using anti-theft devices and parking vehicles in secure locations whenever possible.
Investigation under way
Officials have assured that efforts are under way to trace the stolen vehicle at the earliest. They are also exploring whether the incident is linked to any larger pattern of vehicle thefts in the region.
Residents have been urged to report any suspicious activity immediately to the authorities, which could assist in solving the case more quickly.
Conclusion
The theft of the car from Shreematha Layout in Udupi highlights the importance of vigilance and preventive measures in residential areas. As police continue their investigation, residents remain hopeful that the vehicle will be recovered and that appropriate action will be taken against those responsible.
