Karkala— Two young wrestlers from Christ King English Medium High School, Karkala, have secured their places in the upcoming state-level kusthi championship after stellar performances at the district-level meet.
Dhruveeth, an eighth-grade student competing in the boys’ category, and Sudheeksha, also from grade eight representing the girls’ division, earned gold medals in the Udupi district kusthi tournament. The competition, held at Venkataramana English Medium School, Kundapura, was organised by the School Education Department, Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with the Udupi Zilla Panchayat and district administration.
Their victories came in the under-14 to 17 years age group, marking them as standout athletes ready to take on the state’s best.
The school also celebrated the success of several other medalists. Mohammed Hisham Khan and Sadhvi Nayak of grade seven, along with Rachel D’Souza and Lenisha Mendonca of grade ten, clinched silver medals in their respective bouts. Meanwhile, Mohammed Atif and Preethi Poojary from grade six, Manas of grade seven, and Sanvi M Nayak from grade nine bagged bronze medals, showcasing the school’s overall strength in wrestling.
The achievements have filled the institution with pride, with staff and fellow students congratulating the winners. Their success not only highlights the school’s commitment to sports but also sets an inspiring example for aspiring athletes in the region.
