Udupi: In memory of senior Congress leader Oscar Fernandes, a series of competitions have been scheduled for school and PUC students on September 7 and September 13 in Udupi district. The announcement was made by Yatish Karkera, president of the Oscar Fernandes Fans’ Committee, during a press conference.

Competitions on September 7 at Brahmagiri

On September 7, events will be held at Congress Bhavan, Brahmagiri. The competitions include:

  • Painting Competition – Topic: Freedom Fighters (Classes 1–4)

  • Essay Competition – Topic: The Indian Constitution (Classes 5–7)

  • Painting Competition – Topic: Freedom Fighters (Classes 5–7)

  • Patriotic Song (Group) Competition – Classes 5–7

  • Collage Art Competition – Topic: Politics (Classes 8–10)

  • Essay Competition – Topic: The Indian Constitution (Classes 8–10)

  • Patriotic Song (Group) Competition – Classes 8–10

  • Competitions on September 13 at Bannanje

    The second set of events will be held on September 13 at Narayanguru Sabha Bhavan, Bannanje. Activities include:

    • Fancy Dress Competition – Theme: Freedom Fighters (Classes 1–4)

  • Rangoli Competition – For PUC students

  • Braiding Competition – For PUC students

  • Speech Competition – For both male and female PUC students

  • Open Participation and Prizes

    Karkera announced that there is no maximum limit on the number of participants for any competition. Students must bring a school identity card or a letter from the principal.

    Winners will receive cash prizes and certificates, while all participants will be given consolation prizes and certificates to encourage wider participation.
