On Sunday, September 15, Mangaluru and Udupi districts celebrated the International Day of Democracy by organizing large-scale human chains. In Dakshina Kannada, a 130-km human chain stretched from Mukka to Kannur, involving students and various organizations. Deputy Commissioner Mullai Mugilan read the Preamble to the Constitution at the Kadri event, with MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, Mayor Sudhir Shetty, and other dignitaries attending.
In Udupi, over 1 lakh participants formed a historic 107-km human chain from Byndoor to Hejamadi. The event featured cultural performances like Yakshagana, and a 500-meter-long Indian and Karnataka flag was displayed in key locations, all captured by drones. Over 1,000 saplings were distributed to promote environmental awareness alongside democratic values.
