Udupi: Dr TMA Pai Hospital will commence operations from its newly upgraded facility located on NH 66 near Swagatha Gopura at Kadekar from June 1, marking a significant step in the expansion of healthcare infrastructure in the region. Ahead of the official launch, the hospital management has invited members of the public to visit the new premises between May 22 and May 24 from 10 am to 4 pm.
The upgraded hospital campus has been established with the objective of strengthening healthcare services and enhancing patient care facilities for people from Udupi and neighbouring regions.
Hospital shifts to modern campus after four decades
Established in 1984, Dr TMA Pai Hospital has served patients for more than four decades and has now relocated to a larger and technologically advanced facility.
Spread across an area of approximately 1.4 acres, the new campus has been developed with modern infrastructure and upgraded medical systems aimed at improving healthcare delivery.
Hospital authorities stated that the expansion reflects the institution’s efforts to meet increasing healthcare demands while also creating a patient-friendly environment.
The management noted that the new infrastructure has been designed to support both current requirements and future healthcare needs in the region.
Wide range of departments and specialist services
The new 152-bed hospital includes multiple medical departments covering a broad range of healthcare services.
The facility houses departments including general medicine, paediatrics, orthopaedics, ENT, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, gastroenterology, general and GI surgery, dentistry, physiotherapy and speech and hearing services.
In addition to regular departments, specialist consultations will also be available in cardiology, neurology, nephrology, oncology, neurosurgery and urology along with other super-speciality services.
Hospital authorities said allied healthcare services would also form an important part of the institution’s healthcare delivery model.
Advanced healthcare facilities introduced
The upgraded hospital includes several new facilities intended to strengthen emergency and critical care support.
Major facilities include a 24×7 emergency and trauma care centre, four modular operation theatres equipped with advanced laparoscopic systems and expanded intensive care facilities with 25 ICU beds.
The hospital also includes dialysis support services, CT scan facilities, ultrasound, X-ray services, laboratory facilities and pharmacy support.
Dedicated health check services, day-care facilities and expanded parking space have also been developed as part of the new infrastructure.
Focus on emergency care and patient experience
Shashikiran Umakanth described the launch of the new facility as an important milestone in the institution’s healthcare journey.
He said that although the hospital was shifting to a new location, its commitment to serving the people of Udupi remained unchanged.
He stated that the hospital had been specially designed with significant emphasis on emergency and critical care facilities, particularly considering the need for rapid emergency response along the NH 66 corridor.
He also highlighted that patient comfort, safety, accessibility and a healing environment for patients and their families had received equal importance during planning.
Institution reiterates focus on affordable care
Rajaram Pai said the institution’s primary goal continues to be the delivery of quality healthcare services that remain accessible and affordable.
According to him, despite upgraded infrastructure and modern technologies, the hospital remains committed to maintaining reasonable treatment costs and transparent healthcare practices.
Meanwhile, Deepak Prabhu stated that the hospital has been carefully planned with a focus on patient safety, accessibility and efficient management systems.
He added that critical care services, operation theatres, waiting facilities, parking arrangements and preventive healthcare systems had all been designed keeping future expansion requirements in mind.
Under the theme “Healing Hearts, Open Doors”, members of the public and corporate representatives have been invited to visit the facility before the official commencement of services.
