The lifeless body of a lorry driver was discovered inside his vehicle on Wednesday, parked along the highway near the Varaha Swami Temple, close to Maravanthe Beach. The lorry, registered in Andhra Pradesh, had been stationary for six days due to an engine malfunction.

The deceased has been identified as Babu Rai from Andhra Pradesh. According to the lorry’s cleaner, Rai had visited a hospital in Kundapur four days prior for treatment related to his ill health. The exact cause of death remains unclear, prompting an investigation.

Authorities have since transferred the body to the mortuary at Manipal Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Local police are looking into the circumstances surrounding Rai’s death and have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.

This incident raises concerns about the safety and health conditions of drivers who often spend extended periods on the road, facing mechanical issues and health challenges.
