Udupi: The alarming rise in heart attacks among young people is becoming a serious health concern, with nearly 50% of cases occurring in individuals under 40 years of age, revealed Dr. Ranjan Shetty, senior cardiologist at Sparsh Hospital.
Speaking at a press conference in Udupi, Dr. Shetty emphasized that over 80% of heart ailments are preventable through proactive measures. Regular health check-ups, combined with healthy lifestyle choices, play a crucial role in reducing future risks.
He highlighted that adopting preventive habits between the ages of 20 and 40 can significantly cut down the likelihood of developing cardiac issues later in life. “By making timely adjustments in diet, exercise, and stress management, young adults can safeguard their heart health for the long term,” he added.
Dr. Shetty urged the youth to view prevention as an investment in their future well-being, rather than waiting for symptoms to appear.
