Udupi: A man facing an externment order managed to evade police in Udupi after spotting officers who had arrived to serve him an official notice at Hoode in Paduthonse village.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Mohammed Faizal. Authorities had tracked his location based on reliable information and reached the area to formally deliver the externment order.
Police reach spot based on tip-off
Karkala Town Police Sub-Inspector Shivakumar, along with his team, had received specific inputs about the presence of the accused near a local shrine in Hoode. Acting on this information, the police team proceeded to the location with the intention of serving the legal notice.
Officials stated that the operation was planned to ensure the externment order was executed as per procedure. However, the situation took an unexpected turn upon their arrival.
Accused escapes in dramatic manner
Upon noticing the presence of police personnel, the accused, who was seated inside his car, allegedly attempted to flee the scene immediately. In the process, he reversed the vehicle at high speed in an effort to escape.
During the hurried manoeuvre, the car crashed into a coconut tree along the roadside. Despite the impact, the accused managed to regain control of the vehicle and sped away from the spot before police could intercept him.
