Udupi: A massive fire engulfed a hotel situated near the bustling Malpe beach, reducing it to ashes late on Tuesday night.
The flames erupted close to the bathing and toilet facility frequently used by beachgoers at the Malpe bay area. As thick smoke billowed, firefighters from Malpe and Udupi, along with local residents, rushed to the scene and jointly battled the blaze.
The incident is believed to have taken place soon after the hotel was shut down by the owner for the day.
According to preliminary reports, property and materials worth around ₹15 lakh were lost in the fire. However, the exact cause of the blaze remains unknown, and authorities are continuing their investigation.
