Udupi: A 28-year-old fisherman from Chhattisgarh has reportedly gone missing after accidentally falling overboard from a fishing boat off the Malpe coast.
The missing fisherman has been identified as Dwarika Shikar, who was working aboard the Sri Veeranjaneya Persian fishing boat.
Fisherman falls into sea
Dwarika had ventured into the sea for fishing along with other fishermen after the boat departed from Malpe harbour on September 25.
According to reports, he accidentally slipped and fell into the sea in the morning while the boat was out at sea. Despite efforts to trace him, Dwarika has remained untraceable.
The incident has raised concern among his fellow fishermen and those associated with the fishing community in Malpe.
Police register case
Following the incident, a case has been registered at the Malpe police station.
Authorities are expected to continue efforts to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and trace the missing fisherman.
Dwarika, who is originally from Chhattisgarh, was working as a fisherman aboard the vessel when the incident occurred.
