Kundapur: A fishing boat heading out to sea for fishing sank after being caught in a strong water current at the Gangolli estuary on Wednesday, September 2. Around six fishermen who were on board were rescued immediately, averting a major tragedy.
The boat was later successfully brought back to the shore.
Fishermen rescued swiftly
The incident occurred when the fishing boat was heading out through the Gangolli estuary. The vessel reportedly got caught in a water current and began sinking.
The fishermen on board were rescued promptly, ensuring that no lives were lost in the incident.
Following the rescue, efforts were made to bring the affected boat back to the shore, and the vessel was subsequently retrieved successfully.
Second boat incident in a week
The latest incident has raised concern among the local fishing community as it occurred at the same location where a fishing boat had completely sunk just last week.
On that occasion, the boat was caught in heavy waves at the Gangolli estuary. A total of 27 fishermen were on board the vessel.
A swift rescue operation was launched, and all 27 fishermen were safely rescued.
