Udupi: A unified front of Hindu organizations from Udupi district submitted a formal memorandum to the District Collector, voicing strong opposition to what they describe as anti-Hindu actions by law enforcement in neighboring Dakshina Kannada.

In their appeal, the alliance accused the police of mistreating Hindu activists and infringing on their personal dignity. They claimed that authorities, under the guise of enforcing communal harmony, were violating the human rights of individuals associated with Hindu groups.

Members of the alliance expressed their displeasure over the District Collector’s absence during the scheduled submission, despite obtaining prior permission. They alleged that police personnel were entering the homes of activists late at night, photographing them without consent, and using social media posts as grounds for arrest—often without proper investigation.

“This type of treatment violates fundamental rights,” said a spokesperson for the alliance. “The targeting of individuals solely based on ideology or association with Hindu groups is unacceptable.”

The organizations have called for a high-level investigation into the alleged abuses. They are also demanding written apologies from the police, along with compensation for elderly family members who were subjected to stress or intimidation during police visits.

The alliance emphasized that their appeal is not against maintaining peace but against the selective targeting and harassment of Hindu activists under the pretext of communal regulation.
