Udupi: After months of delay due to continuous monsoon rains, construction on the Indrali railway overbridge in Udupi has finally resumed, bringing renewed hope to commuters and residents. The project, critical to the NH-169A corridor (Malpe–Tirthahalli), is seen as a key connector between Udupi and districts like Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru.

Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Shrinivas Poojari, who visited the site, confirmed the resumption and shared updates on the phased plan. His intervention earlier this year—including a direct appeal to the Railway Minister in May 2025—was instrumental in pushing the project forward.

A bow-string steel girder has been deployed at the site, a major milestone signaling tangible progress. “Now that the rains have eased, concreting work is back on track,” said Poojari. “We aim to finish this phase in 10 to 12 days, followed by a 25-day curing process to ensure structural strength.”

The prolonged suspension had raised concerns among locals, with the overbridge project seen as vital for easing traffic congestion and enabling smoother inter-district transport.

With weather conditions improving, authorities and citizens alike are hopeful that the long-pending infrastructure upgrade will be completed without further delays.
