On Monday, a female peacock in Brahmagiri, Udupi, was rescued by social worker Nithyananda Volakadu after suffering injuries from a stray dog attack. The injured bird was found unable to fly and struggling in the mud. Local residents alerted Volakadu, who quickly intervened and took the peacock into his care.

The rescued peacock was later handed over to the forest department for medical treatment. Forest officials, including Range Forest Officer Gururaj Kavradi, Forest Guard Keshav Poojary, and Pradeep Ajjarkad, were present during the rescue operation to ensure the bird received proper care.
