On Saturday, July 13th, Byndoor MLA Gururaj Gantihole and trustee of the Dr. R. Arunachalam Trust, Ramesh Arun, inaugurated footbridges constructed from old truck chassis in the remote villages of Yadamoge and Thombattu, at the foothills of the Western Ghats.
These villages, though under the Kundapur revenue taluk, are part of the Byndoor Assembly constituency. The Yadamoge footbridge spans the Kubja River, connecting Rampaiah Jaddu hamlet with Kumtiberu. The Thombattu footbridge crosses the Thombattu River, linking Guddimane with Kabbinale.
Built under the Samruddha Byndoor initiative with support from the Arunachalam Trust, these innovative footbridges address long-standing demands from residents. Previously, villagers risked their lives using makeshift wooden footbridges during monsoons.
Due to slow government footbridge construction, Mr. Gantihole sought donor assistance, expressing gratitude to the Arunachalam Trust for their support. Dr. Arun shared that after understanding the urgent need, the Trust sponsored the construction of the footbridges.
Local farmers, Satyamurthy Hemmanna and Krishna Naika, expressed relief and happiness, noting the significant threat posed by swollen waterbodies during the monsoon and emphasizing the need for a permanent solution.
The inauguration was attended by Yadamoge gram panchayat president Sumathi Ganiga, former vice-president Pranesh Yadiyala, Kamalashile Sri Brahmi Durgaparameshwari Temple Managing Trustee Sachhidananda Chatra, Amasebail gram panchayat former president Jayalakshmi Shetty, Thombattu Sri Mahaganapathi Temple Managing Trustee Satyanarayana Udupa, and others.
