Kundapur: A group of five miscreants ambushed and assaulted insulator driver Bashir (35) in Ulandur near Salem, Tamil Nadu. The attackers stabbed him and forcefully took away his money. Severely injured, Bashir managed to seek refuge in Kundapur where he was admitted to the hospital.

The incident occurred during Bashir’s journey from Pulicat in Chennai to Calicut in Kerala. As he approached Ulandur, a gang of miscreants on three motorcycles intercepted his vehicle and launched a brutal attack on him. In addition to inflicting physical injuries on him, they also extorted Rs. 15,000 in cash along with Rs. 10,000 belonging to the fish party that he was transporting.

Fearing for his life after the traumatic experience, Bashir left the insulator vehicle at Manjeri in Malappuram and sought medical attention in Kundapur. The police have registered a case based on his complaint and are coordinating with authorities in Salem for further investigation into this shocking incident.
