Udupi: Extensive preparations and heightened security arrangements have been made at the Shri Kollur Mookambika Temple ahead of the visit of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, temple authorities said on Friday.
Temple administration officials announced that entry for devotees will remain restricted between 2 pm and 4 pm to facilitate the chief minister’s visit and ensure the smooth conduct of security procedures.
Special arrangements made for high-profile visit
Speaking about the preparations, Shri Kollur Mookambika Temple president Babu Hegde said all necessary arrangements have been put in place to accommodate the visit of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
Authorities have coordinated with the police and security agencies to ensure the visit proceeds without disruption. Additional personnel have been deployed in and around the temple premises to manage crowds and maintain security.
The arrangements include regulated movement within the temple complex and enhanced monitoring of entry and exit points.
Devotee entry restricted for two hours
Temple authorities have informed devotees that public entry will be restricted from 2 pm to 4 pm on the day of the visit.
The temporary restriction has been imposed to facilitate security checks and allow the chief minister to offer prayers without interruption. Officials have requested devotees to cooperate with the arrangements and plan their visit accordingly.
Normal darshan and temple activities are expected to resume after the restricted period.
Tight security around temple premises
Given Vijay’s status as a Z+ category protectee and his position as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, elaborate security measures have been implemented.
Police personnel from Karnataka, along with members of the chief minister’s security team, have been stationed at key locations around the temple. Security checks have also been intensified along the route leading to Kollur.
Authorities said the measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of devotees, temple staff and visiting dignitaries.
Vijay to offer prayers at Mookambika Temple
Chief Minister Vijay arrived at Mangaluru International Airport earlier in the day and proceeded to Kollur by road to offer special prayers at the renowned Mookambika Temple.
The visit has attracted significant public attention, with fans and supporters gathering at various locations to catch a glimpse of the actor-turned-politician.
The Kollur Mookambika Temple is one of South India’s most revered pilgrimage centres and has traditionally been visited by several political leaders and public figures.
