On July 13, the Mahila Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party organized the Krishi Uttejan Abhiyan 2024 program at Palingeri Satish Pujari’s paddy field in Bola village, Karkala. The initiative aimed to encourage traditional rice planting practices in rural areas, promoting agricultural activities among local women.

Mrs. Sandhya Ramesh, president of Zilla Mahila Morcha, inaugurated the program by harvesting the grown paddy and distributing it for planting. Around 80-90 women actively participated in the planting activities, engaging in traditional agricultural practices.

During a simple meeting program, the event also honored international sportspersons who recently excelled in South Africa’s Powerlifting competition and brought home a gold medal. Additionally, veteran paddy planting experts Mrs. Yashoda Salian and Janaki Bola were felicitated for their contributions spanning 40-50 years.

Addressing the gathering, MLA V. Sunil Kumar commended Mahila Morcha for their dedicated efforts in integrating agriculture with enthusiasm over the years. He emphasized the importance of preserving rice cultivation for future generations as a crucial component of the local food system.

The event was attended by various dignitaries including Member of the National Commission for Women, Mrs. Shyamala Kunder, District General Secretary Reshma Uday Shetty, and other party leaders who extended their support to the initiative.

Tributes were paid to Bola Satish Pujari, Mandal General Secretary, for his cooperation and support in hosting the event. The program concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Mandal Office Secretary Jyoti Ramesh.
