In a shocking turn of events on Thursday, two students were allegedly assaulted by staff members at City Center Mall in Udupi over a trivial matter. The victims, Nihal (17) and Faizal (18), had visited the mall after finishing their classes.
Reports suggest that while descending from the third floor, the students discovered that the elevator was out of service. They decided to use the automatic escalator, but two mall staff members confronted them and questioned their choice. The situation quickly escalated, resulting in an alleged physical assault.
Nihal sustained an injury to his lip, and Faizal was struck in the stomach and back. Witnesses at the scene intervened and managed to stop the altercation, rescuing the students. Both were immediately taken to the Udupi district government hospital for medical attention.
A case has been filed at the Udupi town police station, and authorities are investigating the incident.
