Udupi – Maruti Suzuki’s much-anticipated entry into the electric vehicle space took a grand turn with the official launch of the e-VITARA electric SUV at the Abharan NEXA showroom, Kadiyali, Udupi, on Wednesday, April 16.
The event was inaugurated by Laxminarayan P Nayak, an officer at the Udupi RTO, who formally unveiled the sleek new EV. The ceremony began on a traditional note with the lighting of the lamp, symbolising a positive and prosperous beginning.
Calling the moment a “historic milestone”, Nayak emphasised Maruti Suzuki’s leap into sustainable mobility after decades of success in the ICE segment. “With growing vehicular population, pollution has become a major concern. Electric vehicles are the need of the hour, as they help reduce environmental impact and curb dependence on imported fuel,” he stated.
Anand Amin, general manager of Abharan Motors, reminisced about the company’s journey, saying, “We started our operations on January 14, 2001, and expanded into NEXA on January 14, 2017. Having served customers with a range of fuel options, we are proud to introduce Maruti Suzuki’s first all-electric model, the e-VITARA.”
The launch culminated in a cheerful cake-cutting ceremony, joined by key dignitaries and staff. The program was smoothly anchored by Sandeep Bhaktha.
Among the attendees were Satvik Kamath (CEO), Akash Kamath, Nagaraj Kamath (GM – Service), Sathish (Sales Manager), showroom staff, and other guests.
