Udupi: A Class 8 student who had been missing for the past five days was traced by the Udupi district’s Akka Squad during a swift operation at the KSRTC bus stand and was later handed over to the Women’s Police Station for further legal procedures.
The successful rescue followed a prompt response by the Akka Squad after receiving information from the Udupi District Police Control Room about the missing schoolboy. The operation ensured the child was located safely before he could travel further.
Control room alert triggers search
According to police, the Udupi District Control Room alerted the Akka Squad regarding the disappearance of the student and requested immediate assistance in tracing him.
Acting on the information, the Akka Squad launched a search operation at key public locations, including bus terminals and transit points where the boy was likely to be found.
The personnel intensified surveillance around the Udupi KSRTC bus stand, keeping a close watch on buses departing for different destinations.
Boy found on Muddebihal-bound bus
During the search, Akka Squad personnel spotted the missing student travelling on a KSRTC bus bound for Muddebihal.
The team acted swiftly by intercepting the bus before it departed, ensuring the student was brought to safety without any untoward incident.
Police said the operation was carried out smoothly, and the boy was safely taken into custody by the squad.
Handed over to Women’s Police Station
Following the rescue, the student was handed over to the Women’s Police Station in Udupi for further legal formalities and counselling, in accordance with the procedures applicable in cases involving missing children.
