Udupi: The Co-curricular Committee and Hobby Project Club, in collaboration with the ISTE Student Chapter and Institute Innovation Council of SMVITM, organized the Final Year Student Project Exhibition at the institute on December 23. The exhibition featured a wide range of innovative projects from students across various departments.
The exhibition was divided by department, with 5 projects from Mechanical Engineering, 23 from Electronics and Communication Engineering (E&C), 4 from Civil Engineering, 33 from Computer Science and Engineering, and 15 projects each from Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AIDS) and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI-ML). The Mechanical Engineering students showcased projects related to agribusinesses, focusing on themes such as reducing physical effort, promoting biodegradability, renewable energy, energy efficiency, emission reduction, and improving cooking times for high-heat food-cart operations.
The Computer Science and Engineering students displayed cutting-edge projects using technologies like deep learning, image compression, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML). Notable AI-ML projects included brain tumour classification, blood cancer detection, AI-powered learning platforms, traffic prediction, human emotion detection, and credit card fraud detection, among others.
E&C students presented projects addressing societal challenges, such as healthcare, environmental issues, and business intelligence, leveraging interdisciplinary knowledge in electronics, communication, and engineering to create socially impactful solutions.
Vice Principal Dr. Ganesh Aithal visited the exhibition, engaging with students and offering valuable suggestions. Faculty, department heads, and students also visited the event. Two best projects from each department were awarded cash prizes in recognition of their excellence.
