The closure of the Ambagilu-Gundibailu route, with barricades placed at Kalsanka Circle, has caused significant disruptions for the public. Vehicles that would normally enter Udupi city via this route are now being diverted through Kadiyali, resulting in severe traffic congestion throughout other areas of the city. This unplanned diversion has led to considerable hardships for residents, students, and tourists, as highlighted by former Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat.

Bhat has strongly urged the district administration to promptly reopen the road and reinstate the original traffic system. He pointed out that the road closure has created a ripple effect, exacerbating traffic jams across the city, which negatively impacts people commuting for work, students heading to schools and colleges, and tourists visiting Udupi.

Criticizing the closure as an ineffective measure for managing traffic flow, Bhat proposed the installation of traffic signal lights at Kalsanka Junction. He believes this solution would allow for smoother traffic movement without causing further inconvenience to the public.

Bhat also noted that the tender process for installing traffic signals at crucial city intersections has already been completed and urged the administration to expedite the installation at Kalsanka. He criticized the road closure for reducing the traffic police’s workload but creating additional problems for the public.

“In the interest of the public, the barricades at Ambagilu-Gundibailu should be removed immediately, and traffic signals should be set up at Kalsanka Junction to ensure seamless traffic flow,” Bhat emphasized.
