Udupi: A remarkable and dramatic encounter between a python and a 12-foot-long Kalinga snake unfolded in Halaniru, Jadkal village, on Wednesday evening. The python attempted to swallow the king cobra but was ultimately unsuccessful in its endeavour.

The unusual confrontation began when the python, in a bid to devour the king cobra, managed to partially swallow the snake’s head. This took place in a field near Muttamma Shedti’s house. As the python attempted to coil around its prey, the king cobra, known for its defensive capabilities, retaliated by wrapping itself around the python’s tail.

Witnesses in the area, astonished by the sight, quickly alerted Snake Shankar of Ampara, a local expert in handling reptiles. Upon arrival, Snake Shankar, with the assistance of local residents, worked to separate the two battling reptiles.

Snake Shankar’s intervention was crucial in resolving the situation. After carefully disentangling the python and the king cobra, Shankar transported both snakes to Anezari, ensuring their safety and preventing further conflict. This act of separation was essential not only for the well-being of the reptiles but also for the safety of the local community, which had gathered around the site.

The event drew significant attention from locals, who were both fascinated and concerned by the spectacle. The dramatic struggle between the two powerful snakes became a topic of conversation, highlighting the unique and often unpredictable interactions that can occur in the natural world.
