Udupi: A rare and joyful incident has been reported from Kunjarugiri, where a cow belonging to local farmer and chef Balakrishna Bhat has given birth to twin calves.
The birth, which took place recently, resulted in one male and one female calf. Both calves are reported to be healthy and active, much to the delight of the farmer and his family.
News of the unusual event quickly spread through the village, and curious residents from neighbouring areas have been visiting Bhat’s house to catch a glimpse of the twin calves.
Veterinarians note that while cows usually give birth to a single calf, twin births are extremely rare and often considered auspicious in rural communities.
For the family, the arrival of the twin calves has not only been a moment of pride but also a reason for celebration, as such occurrences are seen as a sign of prosperity and good fortune.
